A Better Path to Enterprise Architectures Sunday, June 1, 2008 at 11:53:49 PM Central European Summer Time
Often I experience that known arguments need a clear theoretical statement, from which you get the motivation to finally realize them in your work. This is true in my case - when I red Roger Sessions' paper on complexity A Better Path to Enterprise Architectures, I recognized that I have to promote clearer partitioned iterations in the planning of new systems. ... link Thursday, 29. The State of Internet Thursday, May 29, 2008 at 9:07:39 PM Central European Summer Time
Akamai had the bright idea to publish a quarterly report about the state of the internet. The first chapter shows security issues - 2% of the internet-traffic is from DDoS-Attacks, while ports for Windows RPC and SSH are the most attacked. Most attacks come from china, the US, and South-America. Scandinavia stands out in the internet penetration and South Korea is leading the high broadband penetration per capita. Romania ranks on place five of high broadband penetration with 21% while Slovakia and Tunisia have a unexpected >2Mbps penetration of 81+% The unique IP address penetration is estimated to be around 30% of the overall 1 billion users per day and the leading country Sweden has a ratio of 0.4 IPs per capita. A good coverage of the results can be found at http://www.xconomy.com/2008/05/29/akamai-details-winners-losers-in-broadband-race/... link Google K.O. Eric Schmidt: "The next big wave in advertising is the mobile internet" Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 4:26:59 PM Central European Summer Time
A lot of opportunities are in video and display. But there are things where you can do ads on, but some things you can't. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Mobile works all the time. Yes, mobile will be a larger business than the PC-Web. But it will take a few years. The web 2.0 architecture is not necessarily a revenue opportunity. This is not where the money is. When you are in social network, it is not likely that you´ll buy a washing machine. faz-community.faz.net ... link Nolan Wright about SOA + RIA = AppCelerator Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 11:12:50 AM Central European Summer Time
Well written article describing the thoughts behind the Appcelerator framework. With an example how to separate logic from presentation, and how to mock a service with the very framework. ... link ... Next page
